The Company

ParaGea Communications is a high technology satellite and telecommunications company that designs and manufactures Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSATs) and other related satellite communications equipment. Through its satellite products, it developed voice compression technology expertise for new applications in the voice transport and gateway markets (i.e., Voice over Internet applications).

Strategic Positioning

Over the past 16 months, the marketplace has seen a fervor of activity related to VoIP technology. ParaGea recognized the value of its voice technology and decided to take advantage of the high multiples and divest a non-core segment of its business.

Our Role

KPMG Corporate Finance advised ParaGea Communications, Inc. on the sale of its voice technology assets to LSI Logic Corporation.

Buyer’s Positioning

KPMG Corporate Finance contacted over 75 companies regarding this opportunity. The ultimate buyer, LSI Logic, recognized the synergies between ParaGea’s voice technology and its current development platform to expand its DSP broadband communications capability.
