Ricardo "Rick" Chance

Rick Chance joined KPMG Corporate Finance in 2006 serving as Managing Director and the U.S. Group Head for the Special Situations Advisory Group. With more than 20 years of M&A and corporate finance experience, Rick has advised both performing and underperforming companies, debtors, creditors, creditors’ committees, equity holders, and other constituents seeking to preserve and maximize their financial recovery. He has represented clients in a broad range of industries including real estate, financial services, consumer markets, business services, industrial markets, media and technology.

Prior to joining KPMG Corporate Finance and founding the SSAG practice, Rick was a Managing Director at Trenwith Securities, LLC where he was the head of the firm’s Western Regional Investment Banking and National Restructuring practices. Prior to this period, he held senior management positions for various divisions of the Blackrock Group, an investment firm based in Toronto, Canada, that specialized in the acquisition syndication and management of various distressed assets.

In connection with Rick’s advisory roles representing various clients and his role as the SSAG Group Head, he has authored and been quoted in numerous national and regional publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Deal, Dow Jones, Bloomberg, Corporate Finance Week, ABF Journal, The M&A Advisor, and the LA Times. Rick has also provided expert testimony in various bankruptcy courts.

Rick holds an M.B.A. from the University of California in Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University. He is an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, California Bankruptcy Forum, Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, and Association for Corporate Growth. Rick is also a Trustee for Mariners Christian School’s endowment fund.
