Lou joined KPMG Corporate Finance in 2010 and focuses on general real estate advisory, real estate company mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, real estate debt offerings, and distressed debt.
Lou has closed approximately US$20 billion in real estate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, equity offerings, and debt offerings. He led deal teams responsible for bidding on companies and assets worth approximately US$5 billion.
Prior to joining KPMG Corporate Finance, Lou was a Senior Vice President with Macquarie Capital (USA) Inc. in the Real Estate Private Equity department and prior to that he was Vice President of Goldman, Sachs & Co. in the Real Estate Investment Banking department. Prior to joining Goldman, Sachs & Co., Lou was an Associate in Investment Banking with Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. Lou began his professional career at Varner, Stephens, Humphries & White, LLP in Atlanta, GA, where he was a Corporate Associate providing legal representation to a wide range of public and private companies. He then continued legal representation as General Counsel and Chief Litigation Officer with VDC Communications, Inc. (formerly AMEX: VDC) in Greenwich, CT.
Lou holds an M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia Business School in New York, New York, a JD from the College of William and Mary, Marshall-Wyth School of Law in Williamsburg, Virginia, and a B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey.
