Lorie Beers Receives American Bankruptcy Institute's Prestigious Annual Services Award
April 12, 2007
Last week Lorie Beers was recognized by the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Annual Service Award. This award, the ABI’s highest membership award, is presented to the ABI member whose contributions over the past year have been extraordinary, as determined by the ABI’s Advisory Board. Lorie was recognized for her work in developing the Complex Financial Restructuring Program (formerly the Investment Banking Program), one of the most sophisticated educational programs in the world of bankruptcy.
The CFRP program was among the first of its kind to use a complex hypothetical situation as a teaching tool for professionals. Various industry leaders take the roles of constituents in this hypothetical case study, and three teams, each led by an investment banker, propose different restructuring solutions to illustrate to the attendees how different capital market solutions can impact value. Attendees also learn about the interplay among different constituencies and how negotiations in a complex case unfold. Lorie developed this program in 2003 as a replacement for the traditional Investment Banking Program which consisted of panel discussions of industry topics. The success of the program has been overwhelming and has grown three-fold since its inception.
We are very proud of Lorie and this well deserved honor bestowed on her. Congratulations Lorie!
