June 2006: KPMG Corporate Finance LLC Names Ricardo Chance as Managing Director

Ricardo Chance has joined KPMG Corporate Finance LLC as a Managing Director in its Costa Mesa, California office to head its Distressed M&A Group. Mr. Chance and his team will be responsible for providing, on a national basis, out-of-court and in-court M&A, corporate finance, and restructuring advisory services to underperforming companies, debtors, creditors, creditors’ committees, equity holders, and other constituents.
Prior to joining KPMG Corporate Finance LLC, Mr. Chance was a Managing Director at Trenwith Securities, LLC where he was the head of the firm’s Western Regional Investment Banking and National Restructuring practices. Prior to Trenwith he held senior management positions for various divisions of the Blackrock Group, an investment firm based in Toronto, Canada, that specialized in the acquisition and syndication of distressed assets. Mr. Chance has a total of 17 years of investment banking and restructuring advisory experience in a wide range of industry sectors, including apparel, building materials, business services, consumer products, food and beverage, gaming, general manufacturing, healthcare, real estate, retail, restaurants, specialty chemical, and technology.
Mr. Chance has also provided expert testimony in bankruptcy courts. In connection with his advisory role representing various debtors and creditors in bankruptcy, he has authored and been quoted in various national and regional publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Deal, Dow Jones, Bloomberg, Corporate Finance Week, The M&A Advisor, and the LA Times. In 2005, in recognition of his role as lead investment banker representing Second Chance Body Armor’s sale to Armor Holdings, The M&A Advisor named this transaction as a finalist in its “Turnaround Deal of the Year” national competition.
Mr. Chance holds an MBA degree from the Anderson School at UCLA and a bachelor of commerce degree from McGill University. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, and Association for Corporate Growth.
